Please note: to make full use of StarWalk, and to access the information StarWalk collects from your pet, you must download the StarWalk mobile app and connect your mobile device and the app to your StarWalk device (via Bluetooth).
StarWalk collects personal information that you voluntarily submit, and we also collect information via your StarWalk device. When you download our app and create a user profile to use StarWalk, we collect your name, birth date, gender, email address, and your state of residence. You must also create a password. We also ask you for your dog’s name, age, and gender; however, this information is optional. Additionally, StarWalk automatically collects information from your StarWalk device, including your dog’s steps and the MAC address of your StarWalk device. We also collect certain information through our mobile application, including device ID, access time, and other usage data, such as step information, temperature of the sensor within StarWalk, other settings data, date and time, alarm time, and battery status.
Use of Information
Information collected by StarWalk is used to monitor your dog’s health, to identify you and your dog, and to allow comparisons of your dog to aggregate data about other dogs whose caretakers use StarWalk. Additionally, we may use collected information to manage your StarWalk account and preferences, to analyze and improve StarWalk, to develop new products, to tailor the content and information that we may send or display to you, and to provide updates about StarWalk and other Dogtra products to you. We may also use the information we collect from you as required by law or in the aggregate or anonymized for research or other purposes.
Your information may be shared with Dogtra service providers who manage data or perform other business functions on our behalf. These service providers have access to your information only for the limited purpose of providing such services. We may also disclose your information to our affiliates, in response to a governmental request, court order, or when otherwise required by law, as well as to enforce our policies, protect our or other’s rights, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved. If we are acquired by or merged with another company, if substantially all of our assets are transferred to another company, or as part of a bankruptcy proceeding, we may transfer your information to the other company.
You choose which personal information to submit through StarWalk. Partial submission of information may limit the availability of certain StarWalk features. You may modify or delete your user profile by making such changes through the StarWalk mobile app. If you do so, previously provided information may still be available to us. We also may keep previously provided information in our backup files or archives.
Marketing Emails and Other Communications
We may send you marketing emails and push notifications on your device. To unsubscribe from marketing emails, simply follow the opt-out instructions in any such email. To opt out of push notifications on iOS devices you can go to the “Notification Center” in “Settings” and select the StarWalk app then select “None” under “Alert Style”. For more information about notifications on iOS devices, visit http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3576. To opt out of push notifications on Android devices you can go to the “Application manager” under “Settings” and select the StarWalk App then deselect the “Show notifications” option and confirm “OK”.
Your personal information is stored and protected using commercially reasonable precautions. While we strive to ensure the security of your personal information, no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. To protect your information, please keep your user ID and password confidential.
Children’s Online Privacy
StarWalk does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personal information without the parent or guardian’s consent, please contact us as provided below.
